Russian LGBT Group Urges 'Do Not Boycott The Olympics - Boycott Homophobia!'

In a press release posted to Facebook today, The Russian LGBT Network responded to recent calls for the boycott of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Gamesin support of LGBT Russians and disapproval of the nation's recently enacted anti-gay laws that make it a crime in Russia to spread "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among minors."

Mexican rock band Molotov to remove anti-gay slur from track, speak out against anti-LGBT violence during national tour

Popular Mexican rock band Molotov's today decided to remove the anti-gay slur "maricón" from its 1997 song "Puto" during this summer's Jägermeister Music Tour. Along with removing "maricón," from the "matarile al maricón" lyric, the band will introduce the song during the tour with a message of support for LGBT people. The band will be donating some of the tour's proceeds to LGBT organizations and to help Esteban Navarro, the young victim of a recent anti-gay attack in Chile.

Court rules lesbian widow must receive survivor’s benefits

A federal court has determined that a lesbian widow is entitled to her late spouse’s benefits partly on the basis that Illinois civil union law is sufficient for federal purposes — a view that differs from the Obama administration’s interpretation of the Supreme Court ruling against the Defense of Marriage Act.
