Iowa Conservatives Renew Bid To Defeat Judge Who Backs Marriage Equality

A group of Iowa conservatives announced Saturday they will campaign to defeat Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins, who was part of the court’s unanimous 2009 decision to allow gay marriage in the states. The Family Leader, a political and issue activist group led by former Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats, is directing the campaign.

Gay Ex-Principal Running For Paradise Valley District Board That Ousted Her

A former high-school principal who has a pending discrimination complaint against the Paradise Valley Unified School District has filed as a candidate to run for the district’s governing board.

Cynthia Davis submitted 459 signatures for candidacy, Maricopa County records show. She faces three incumbents—and all three were among the five in the spring who voted to let her contract lapse at Paradise Valley High School.
