On May 26, 2013 Indianapolis blogger Steph Mineart put up a post on her Commonplacebook blog, "Anti-gay Churches have Booths at Indianapolis Gay Pride Event," that was quickly shared by many in the Indianapolis LGBT community via social media. In the post, she provided a well-researched report on two anti-gay Christian groups which had reserved booth space at the 2013 Indy Pride celebration.
Last week, a 22-year-old person of color was brutally attacked in Los Angeles. While previous information regarding the victim's gender identity was unclear, authorities have now clarified that the victim's name is Vivian and she uses female pronouns.
Today, the non-profit student advocacy organization StudentsFirst issued a statement denouncing the actions of Tennessee Rep. John Ragan for his co-sponsorship of the state's notorious "Don't Say Gay" bill, which stated that teachers should not be able to talk about any type of sexuality that isn't, "related to natural human reproduction" as well as expressed support for anti-bullying legislation federally and in states.
