For the third year, GLAAD has provided a breakdown of the race, gender and ethnicity of all series regular characters expected to appear on the broadcast networks in the upcoming season. Despite not having any LGBT characters in its scripted programming at the launch of the 2007-2008 season, The CW actually ranks highest in overall diversity, followed by a near-tie between CBS and NBC. Fox ranks lowest in diversity.

Counting the finite number of series regular characters (lead and supporting) on all announced broadcast network scripted series for the season, LGBT characters make up only 1.1%.

Total number of series regulars*: 650
Number of series regular LGBT characters: 7 (1.1%)
(does not include recurring characters)
Total number of scripted shows: 87
Number of shows with series regular LGBT characters: 5 (5.7%)
(announced for 2007-2008 season, as of September 17, 2007)
