With the arrival of June also comes a month of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Pride celebrations across the country, marking a time for the community to look back on nearly four decades of the LGBT movement’s progress since the 1969 Stonewall riots. To recognize Pride Month, a number of television networks offer up a slate of LGBT-focused programming. Here are highlights of what's on tap for June, ranging from dignified, to daring, to just plain fun.

Thursday, May 31

In the Life (syndicated) NEW

Screened Out: Gay Images in Film (Turner Classic Movies, 8 PM ET/PT) PREMIEREThroughout the month of June, noted film historian Richard Barrios will host a variety of films featuring depictions of gays and lesbians from the classic Hollywood era. Barrio and special guests such as Tab Hunter, Charles Busch, Alan Cumming and Michael Musto will discuss the concepts and stereotypes presented in classic films. June 5, 1981 is most frequently cited as the day that AIDS was revealed. GLAAD has created an online AIDS @ 25 Media Resource Guide to assist journalists in covering a quarter century of AIDS and LGBT images in the media.
