More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
FOX's Sean Hannity Downplays Racist, Anti-Gay Slurs Directed at Congressmen Over Health Care Reform
Fox News host Sean Hannity downplayed recent reports that several congressmen who supported health care reform were subjected to racist and anti-gay slurs last weekend prior to the historic vote.
During a discussion on his program this week with guests S.E. Cupp and Gerri Willis, Hannity said:
"Well, they are trying to make a big deal over the weekend and this is denied by a lot of people. I have not seen the video tape that confirms this yet. If anyone has it, send it to me. I want to see it, of racial slurs, anti-gay slurs being made at the Tea Party Movement. Do we have any evidence that corroborates this at all?"
Hannity questioned the validity of the incidents, despite wide reporting on them by numerous outlets including ABC News. ABC's coverage included video of an anti-gay slur directed at Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) You can see the report here.
It's unfortunate that Sean Hannity would use his platform to question the legitimacy of these disturbing incidents despite evidence to the contrary.
GLAAD encourages you to reach out to the program Hannity, on Fox News Channel, and ask host Sean Hannity to play the footage confirming the anti-gay slur. He asked his viewers to send him evidence and we have provided it here with a link to ABC News' reporting.
