More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Lady Gaga's Latest Video is a Call to Action
Lady Gaga's most influential 'Telephone' video might have nothing to do with famous guest stars, a multi-million dollar budget, or even her hit song. It's just her and a home video camera, using the telephone to call her Senator to push for the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.
After bringing four LGBT servicemembers as her dates to the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, Lady Gaga further demonstrated her commitment to repealing the military's discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy with a new video this week.
In this stark, b&w video for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, Gaga explains why the policy violates the rights of LGBT people seeking to serve their country, and implores her fans to call their senators asking for its repeal.
The vote is currently very tight, and a key group of senators is still uncommitted to breaking the filibuster. Watch the video below and contact your own senator now. The number for the capital switch board is (202) 224-3121.
We thank Lady Gaga for asking her fans to call their elected representatives and ask them to support repealing this discriminatory measure. On this critical matter, your voice and theirs ... can be just as powerful as hers.
