More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
UPDATE: Real World's Ryan Leslie Responds to Fan Backlash
After Real World:New Orleans star Ryan Leslie posted an anti-gay tweet on Friday, the topic continues to garner a significant amount of response from Twitter users.
On Friday, a gay Twitter user made comments that Leslie was anti-gay due to recent episodes of the series where he calls out roommate Preston a f*g, Leslie returned the accusation with homophobic threats of anti-gay violence to the user on Twitter.
Leslie tweeted from @imRyanLeslie: "@aurosan I would love to see you in person, and smash your gay f*cking face in.”
Although Leslie responded to backlash with a tweet saying "No gay hate here," the original tweet was clearly anti-gay hate speech, perpetuating anti-gay violence that is a reality for many in the LGBT community. GLAAD urges twitter users to continue tweeting their concerns to Leslie so the Real World star understands that anti-gay rhetoric such as these can not be tolerated.
