More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Actress and LGBT Ally Kate del Castillo Embraces Her Lesbian Rumors

The letter had lots else to get pundits talking. In it she lambasted the Mexican government, the Church and seemed to praise a notorious drug dealer. She also complained about anyone who would judge her sexuality, which some took as self-outing. She responded to the entire brouhaha with aplomb. In a recent interview with a Mexican journalist, she responded “I’m not a lesbian, but I do know that many women would love it if I were (laughs).”
She added “I have a lot of gay friends, I love them, and I respect them a lot.” And we do too!
The actress, who has taken roles in U.S. English-language television and film, such as the Showtime series Weeds, has spoken out on LGBT issues and in 2009 was a spokesperson for the Los Angeles organization Bienestar’s anti-homophobia campaign.

In 2011, she shared an on-screen kiss with an openly bisexual character in her role as one of the world’s most powerful crime lords on Telemundo’s primetime novela La Reina del Sur, which broke records for both male and non-Spanish-speaking viewers and topped the ratings on its 10 p.m. time slot, beating out English-language network shows. That same year, in the film Without Men, she shared a romance with a character played by Eva Longoria. In 2012, del Castillo will play a transgender prison inmate in the film K-11.
