Victoria Cobb

--President of the Family Foundation of Virginia

Facts

-- Called for the defunding of gay-straight alliances, claiming the pro-acceptance/anti-bullying groups are really "dating services": “Taxpayers should not be asked to fund homosexual dating services in our schools,” Mrs. Cobb said. “Schools have the ability and the right to disband these groups.”

-- Referred to a day geared towards acceptance of LGBT students as an "all-out assault on our values by the homosexual community through our public schools"

-- Quoted as saying gays can change: "lots of ex-gays get married and have families, proving they can change no matter what the origin of their homosexuality, she says;" Also: “Science has not found a genetic link to homosexuality. Even with the completed genome project, no evidence was found to suggest it is connected with one’s DNA. I think those that have stepped away from their lifestyle as a gay individual and are now married with children would tell you that they made a choice.”

-- Says of efforts to ban scientifically discredited "converstion therapy": "It’s astonishing that a party that claims to defend choice and free speech is bent on limiting both for counselors, parents and kids who are struggling with their sexuality,” said Victoria Cobb, president of the Family Foundation of Virginia. “It’s insulting to thousands of people who have made this change.” Says laws that ban it actually discriminate “against people that leave the homosexual lifestyle”

-- Declared "Flag-gate" against the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond for simply flying a rainbow flag in recognition of LGBT Pride Month: "In Virginia, this is not a stand that should be taken. We've as a state said we are not going to support gay marriage, for example, in our constitution, and we've been very clear on issues of gay rights," the pro-family advocate notes. "So it's disappointing to see such a large flag flying, as if it's something that this commonwealth supports."

-- Accused equality advocates pushing for inclusive adoption rights of "putting their political agenda ahead of the needs of children in Virginia"
