Yesterday marked a historic moment in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history as the Obama Administration expressed its commitment to ensuring the human rights of all people, including LGBT people.
Last Thursday, the Global Post told the heartbreaking story of a Ugandan gay couple, Alex and Michael, who fled to Kenya to escape anti-gay persecution and are living in a refugee camp. LGBT people around the world face extraordinary amounts of violence and discrimination like Michael and Alex have, much of which is sanctioned by law.
Last month, the Columbia University Press published "The Lives of Transgender People," a book outlining the findings of a comprehensive survey on gender, development, and identity among transgender individuals in the United States.
