Two transgender women in West Virginia were denied their right to take their ID picture as their authentic selves. On two separate occasions the women were ordered to "take off their wigs and makeup" before being allowed to take an updated license photo.
GLAAD today applauded the list of nominees for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, which was among the most LGBT-inclusive list in Emmy history. Laverne Cox became the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy in an acting category. Cox received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sophia Burset in the hit Netflix Original Series 'Orange is the New Black.'

Utah's Attorney General, Sean Reyes, has announced his office will appeal the 10th Circuit Court’s decision last month upholding marriage equality to the U.S. Supreme Court. That circuit decision found that any state ban on marriage equality violated the Fourteenth Amendment rights of same-sex couples to equal protection and due process. It was the first circuit ruling against marriage bans.
