Vote for 'Pier Kids' or 'Naz+Maalik' for Indiewire's 'Project of the Month'

Each month, Indiewire asks readers to vote on a 'Project of the Month'. The winner receives a consultation about their project with the site's 'Project of the Month' partner. This month, that partner is the Tribeca Film Institute, a great opportunity for the chosen film. For November, two exciting and groundbreaking LGBT themed films need your votes!

Pier Kids: The Life follows three young people of color who were kicked out of their homes because of their sexuality or gender identity.  The film follows the trio as they try to survive on the same streets where the Stonewell riots took place, and tells the all too common story of homeless LGBT youth facing rejection and hardship on multiple fronts.  Watch the trailer below:

A very different set of challenges is faced by the protagonists of Naz + Maalik, a closeted Muslim teen couple who find themselves the focus of unwarranted anti-terrorist surveillance one afternoon.

Both Pier Kids: The Life and Naz + Maalik tell important, original stories and were previously chosen as Indiewire 'Project[s] of the Week.' Getting funded is often just a first step however, and the films can still use your support. Voting is open until December 6, which you can do by clicking here.
