Laverne Cox joined the GLAAD Media Awards nominee and co-chair Janet Mock on stage at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City last Saturday to introduce GLAAD’s work in conjunction with the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.
The two transgender women spoke about the "I AM: Trans People Speak" video series which spotlights the stories of transgender people and allies in an effort to educate the public about the community. The campaign will also empower transgender youth and adults alike who will hear from advocates who have faced similar challenges.
“It is my belief that by living visibly and standing and sharing in your truth that you help your community, your allies, and I believe even your oppressors, recognize the humanity that lies within us all,” said Janet Mock.
