United Methodist high court to hear challenge to ban on LGBT ministry

GLAAD has been working with several United Methodist organizations calling for full inclusion for LGBT people. One such leader on trial is the Rev. Dr. Thomas Olgetree, who performed the wedding of his son, Tom (a fomer GLAAD employee).

"The United Methodist Judicial Council will decide whether church ministries can advocate for the acceptance of homosexuality, whether ministers can officiate at same-sex ceremonies and whether a regional conference can urge members to ignore portions of Methodist law."
