Trans actress Laverne Cox to executive produce trans youth documentary with MTV and Logo

Orange Is the New Black star and GLAAD Media Award honoree Laverne Cox will executive produce and host an upcoming documentary on transgender youth, as reported by BuzzFeed and the Advocate. MTV and Logo will feature the one-hour documentary scheduled to air this fall on both networks. Trans Teen: The Documentary, will focus on the lives of four trans young people in an age range of 14 to 24.

According to a spokesperson at MTV and Logo, the documentary subjects were found without the use of traditional casting methods.

Some of the youth featured in the documentary reached out to Cox themselves during her college speaking tour, while others were found through personal YouTube channels.

Although few details are known at this time, it’s not too early to get excited about it.
