GLAAD adds NC marriage foes to the Commentator Accountability Project

GLAAD recently announced the addition of North Carolina-based anti-gay activists Ron Baity, Patrick Wooden, Mark Creech and Tami Fitzgerald to its Commentator Accountability Project (CAP).  The project aims to educate the media about the extreme rhetoric of many of those who are often interviewed or quoted in opposition to LGBT people and the issues that affect their lives. GLAAD works with IN teen facing expulsion for protecting himself

GLAAD is working with gay high school student Dynasty Young, who's facing expulsion after using a self-protection device in response to severe bullying. On April 16, after being cornered by a group of students who called him names, cursed and threatened to beat him up, Dynasty fired the device into the air. The students backed off, and no one was injured. GLAAD is working with Dynasty and his family to manage media appearances and help shed light on the pervasiveness of bullying today. Read more.

 

Elevating LGBT-affirming voices of faith

GLAAD’s Religion, Faith & Values team was on the ground at the General Conference of The United Methodist Church, supporting those who work for full inclusion. Even though the denomination did not change its discriminatory policies, GLAAD lifted up the voices of clergy who have pledged to perform weddings for all couples, as well as those who witnessed against the policy.
