More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Snapshots of Our Work
Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?
Be sure to check out GLAAD Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.
- GLAAD’s Media Field Strategy team helped share the story of newlyweds Chris and Victor in a Parenting Magazine article titled, “The New Normal.” The article was cross-posted to CNN.com where countless readers learned that same-sex parents are just the same as any other.
- GLAAD’s Religion, Faith & Values team worked to shine light on the harms of so-called “reparative therapy” after the dissemination of a document entitled, “Declaration of the Torah Approach to Homosexuality,” which deemed so-called “reparative therapy” as the only kosher option for gay and lesbian Jewish people.
- GLAAD encouraged supporters to “Let Aunt Betty Feel Awkward this Thanksgiving” and build support for equality by sharing their stories with friends, family and coworkers during the holiday season. GLAAD’s #AwkwardThanksgiving social media tools also allowed supporters to post pictures and stories online.
