More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.

Senator Patty Murray, the senior senator from the state of Washington showed her support for LGBT youth by wearing purple for Spirit Day. Joined by her staff, Senator Murray sent us this picture and message: “My staff & I are speaking out against bullying & standing up in our #purple for #LGBT youth today. -PM #SpiritDay” LGBT youth in Washington will know they have allies in Senator Murray and her staff.
