Orange County Youth Speak Out to Support Seth's Law Against LGBT Bullying

On July 1, Seth’s Law (AB9) and AB1156 became a reality and California schools are now required to enact anti-bullying policies. Some young adults in Orange County are making sure that teens feel empowered to cite these laws if they experience bullying or discrimination. And they have some famous friends helping them including Betty DeGeneres, Ellen’s mom.

Bob Jones University LGBT Alumni Organize and March in NYC LGBT Pride

Bob Jones University is the latest of evangelical and fundamentalist colleges and universities to have its students and alumni form an unofficial LGBT organization. After quietly planning for months, BJUnity announced the launch of BJUnity.org and its organization to support LGBT and straight affirming alumni and students of fundamentalist Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.

New York Times and ABC Highlight LGBT-Affirming African-American Congregation

On Saturday, the New York Times highlighted the LGBT-inclusive ministry at Rivers at Rehoboth, a Harlem-based congregation in New York City, in its article “A Rare Haven for Gay Men and Lesbians in Harlem.” The congregation, which is formed as the merger of Rivers of Living Faith and Rehoboth Temple, has its roots in the Black church tradition, while maintaining an active outreach to the Black LGBT population.
