Rochester's 'Breakfast Buzz' hosts fired following transphobic segment

After announcing last night that Kimberly Ray and Berry Beck, hosts of the 'Breakfast Buzz' show on 98.9 The Buzz, were suspended indefinitely for their transphobic comments, Entercom Rochester announced this morning that the two hosts have been terminated.

“This morning Entercom fired Kimberly and Beck effective immediately. Their hateful comments against the transgender community do not represent our station or our company," said Sue Munn, Vice President and General Manager of Entercom Rochester. "We deeply apologize to the transgender community, the community of Rochester, and anyone else who was offended by their comments. We are proud of our past work on behalf of the local LGBT community and we remain committed to that partnership."

"The Buzz took quick action after this grossly anti-trans segment. We now look forward to hearing the voices of local transgender advocates who can best educate the Rochester community about the importance of equal access to healthcare," said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

GLAAD has spoken with representatives of the station, and is working with them on a plan to correct the inaccuracies presented by Kimberly and Beck. We will share further updates shortly.
