More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.

On today’s episode of the Ricki Lake Show, host Ricki Lake talks to married couple/ business partners/butchers Erika Nakamura and Amelia Posada. The couple owns Los Angeles based butcher shop “Lindy & Grundy Meats.”
The episode focuses on women who work in male dominated industries. The couple met while living in New York, but moved to Los Angeles after Erika visited Amelia’s family and realized there were no sustainable butchers there. Amelia, or the “Shop Mama,” is described as a “true activist,” who “has a special commitment to teaching America how to eat.” Erika is described on the butcher shop’s website as the “Meat Maven.”
