LGBT New Yorkers held a 'Take Back the Night' rally in response to a string of anti-LGBT attacks that have occurred in the last two weeks. The rally, organized by Queer Rising, brought together a diverse range of LGBT and allied people to advocate for LGBT safety.

Participants handed out fliers, detailing one of the attacks that occurred outside of Madison Square Garden following a New York Knicks Game. A second attack occurred days later, just a few blocks away. Recently, a third attack was revealed to have happened outside of a gay bar in the West Village.

Members of the LGBT community, especially people of color who are transgender women, fall victim to hate crimes at a much higher rate than other individuals. The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCVAP) released an infographic highlighting the statistics of said attacks.

GLAAD was on the ground at the rally. The photos are submitted from the organization Gay Marriage USA. A complete list of photos can be found on their Facebook page.
