The Phoenix Coyotes and the You Can Play project posted a video to their official Instagram for Spirit Day, October 17. Forwards Mikkel Boedker, Shane Doan and David Moss, and Defenseman Keith Yandle were featured in the social media post. The link has been included below, check it out!

The NHL set the bar high for sports leagues to show support for LGBT youth by going purple on Facebook and Twitter to stand against bullying.

Working with the You Can Play Project, a group that works with athletes to make sports safe and accessible for LGBT fans and athletes, hockey teams across North America went purple for Spirit Day, from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Anaheim Ducks. And at their game this weekend against Minnesota, the Florida Panthers hosted an inaugural Equality Night on October 19 to battle homophobia in the locker room.

Check out the Phoenix Coyotes video below and check out the New York Islanders' short video in support of Spirit Day from last week.

GLAAD thanks the You Can Play project for its work with us on Spirit Day and around the year to promote respect for all athletes and to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their team's success.
