More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Ousted Boy Scout Mom on MSNBC
Today, Thomas Roberts interviewed Jennifer Tyrell, the Ohio mom who was ousted as scout leader of her son’s Boy Scouts troop simply because she’s gay - and who has the support of tens of thousands of Americans on her call for the Boy Scouts to change its policy.
Jennifer was joined by her son Cruz and by GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. During the interview, Jennifer shared her story and expressed her devastation over being dismissed from the organization. Yet, she noted, “I’m actually very humbled and appreciative of all the support” she has received from her community and from people around the country. Herndon added, “I hope the Boy Scouts change their rule. There is nothing preventing them from doing so, and I think that America is behind us.”
