New York City's LGBT Community Center Hosts Transgender Day of Remembrance Event

In observance of the 13^th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, New York City’s LGBT Community Center will hold an event this Friday, November 18, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event is being coordinated by the Gender Identity Project (GIP) at the Center, and it is being sponsored by several LGBT organizations and LGBT-supportive agencies, including GLAAD. This is a free event and will include a solemn prayer, candlelight vigil, inspirational speakers, community voices, refreshments, and educational resources and services.

The GIP offers a variety of resources and support to transgender and gender non-conforming people in New York.  Partners, family members, allies, service providers, and others seeking to learn more about the issues affecting the transgender and gender non-conforming communities are encouraged to attend the GIP’s Transgender Day of Remembrance event.
