More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
More than 100,000 People Support Gay Mom Ousted by Boy Scouts
As of 12:45 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 21, more than 100,000 people have signed a Change.org petition in support of Jennifer Tyrrell. The petition calls on the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to reinstate Jennifer as the den leader of her son's Cub Scouts troop in Bridgeport, Ohio. Jennifer was ousted from that post on April 10 just because she's gay. Tonight Jennifer will speak onstage at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.
Jennifer is receiving tons of attention from LGBT advocates and media outlets across the country. While on her way to helping create a Boy Scouts of America that is inclusive of gay youth and LGBT families, Jennifer is already changing hearts and minds. See how her story is already making a difference.
And if you can't be with us in person for tonight's Media Awards in Los Angeles, you can watch Jennifer and her family share their story as they walk the red carpet!
