Michigan Governor side steps questions on expanding LGBT equality

Content

When Michigan Governor Rick Snyder was asked "are you ready to expand state civil rights to include gays?", the governor dodged the question. When a follow up question was asked, Gov. Snyder "chuckled".

The LGBT community is not chuckling. It patiently waits for somebody to make the move to make sure they can’t be fired from a job or denied housing based on their sexual orientation - or as one liberal Democrat puts it - based on “who they are and who they love.” There are some bi-partisan private discussions unfolding on that, but so far nothing concrete. It may come down to timing. It does not appear to be imminent and the governor will not lead the charge.
