"Bridegroom," "Born This Way," "Test" among award recipients at the 2013 Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival

The 2013 Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival wrapped up yesterday and awards were handed out to some of the best new LGBT films. Among the recipients was Bridegroom, the story of discrimination faced by Shane Bitney Crone in the wake of his partner's death. The film received the Audience Award for Outstanding Documentary Feature Film.


Boy Scout Jamboree performers 3 Doors Down need to take action on the BSA ban on gay adults

It was just announced that rock band 3 Doors Down will be performing at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree tomorrow according to the Associated Press. The band is stepping in following withdrawals from Train and Carly Rae Jepsen as a result of a campaign launched by GLAAD and Eagle Scout Derek Nance, who started a petition which received over 60,000 signatures. The petition asked them to not perform until the Boy Scouts of America adopt a national non-discrimination policy that would end the BSA's practice of ejecting gay young people and adults.

GLAAD speaks with B. Scott and BET regarding BET Awards incident, network issues statement

This year, gay television and internet personality, B. Scott, was hired by BET to host the pre-show for their annual award ceremony which aired last Sunday. Scott's attires often do not conform to expected gender norms. BET's decision to hire B. Scott was a great step forward but unfortunately B. Scott was reportedly asked to make changes to his ensemble.

"Respect for Marriage Act" re-introduced to ensure full DOMA repeal

Following the Supreme Court ruling on United States v. Windsor that found Section 3 of the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act" or DOMA to be unconstitutional, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, and Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, reintroduced the "Respect for Marriage Act."


'Kinky Boots,' 'Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike' win big, Larry Kramer honored at 67th annual Tony Awards

Last night Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 67th annual Tony Awards, recognizing excellence in Broadway Theater. Following an opening number that featured a cameo by retired boxer Mike Tyson singing along Harris, Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein’s Kinky Boots received awards in six categories, including Best Musical while playwright and LGBT activist Larry Kramer accepted the Isabelle Stevenson Award.
