Each year at the OUTMusic Awards, the LGBT Academy of Recording Arts (LARA) recognizes some of the LGBT artists who have made significant contributions to the music industry.  The event brings together industry professionals, music artists and media personalities to honor out LGBT artists for the strides they have made in the music industry during the past year.

"Our goal is to bring LGBT music culture and heritage to the forefront of the music industry and mainstream media.  We need our LGBT music and entertainment platform to shine just as bright in the media." said Diedra Meredith, Chairwoman of the LARA Board of Directors.

“The LGBT Academy of Recording Arts is an ally to LGBT artists trying to advance in the music industry,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick.  “The Academy recognizes the wells of talent and creativity these artists have to offer the industry, and the powerfully resonant personal experiences they have to share with fans through their music.  It’s important that LARA is there to advocate from the inside on their behalf.”

The 8th Annual OUTMusic Awards will be held December 14-16 at the Planet Hollywood Theater for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, NV.  Recently Caesars Entertainment, owner of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino entered a 3-year partnership with LARA to further their commitment of support of the LGBT community.
