This afternoon the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit lifted its stay of the Federal District Court decision that found Proposition 8 unconstitutional. The plaintiffs who successfully challenged California’s Proposition 8 in Hollingsworth v. Perry, including Plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, will be the first to marry.

"This is an historic moment in our movement and a beautiful day for all families," said GLAAD national spokesperson Wilson Cruz. "By coming out and being visible in daily life and in media, so many people have helped create a culture in which marriage equality is increasingly accepted and supported. Congratulations to Kris and Sandy who are marrying this afternoon in San Francisco, and to the many couples who are sure to wed in the coming days."
