Katy Perry debuts #GayPropaganda PSA as part of curation for Madonna's Art For Freedom platform

Katy Perry today debuted a PSA by (We Are) #GayPropaganda as the finale to her month long curation of Art For Freedom, "a global initiative encouraging creative expression that brings awareness to human rights violations" created by Madonna and Vice Magazine. The PSA "The Peace Sign" is the third in a series of recreations of recent photographs of violence against the LGBT community in Russia. Watch "The Peace Sign" below.

(We Are) #GayPropaganda is encouraging users on Twitter and Instagram to raise their voices in support of LGBT people in Russia and redefine 'gay propaganda' by connecting art, images and simple storytelling with the hashtag #GayPropaganda.

“I am so fortunate to have the freedom to express myself through music,” said Katy Perry about the honor of being chosen as the first curator of the year, “I believe that 2014 can be a year of great social change. Together we can all stand up for Human Rights. Join the conversation, and let your art be your voice.”

Join the conversation now on Instagram and Twitter using hashtag #GayPropaganda and keep up to date with the campaign on their official Twitter page @GayPropaganda or on Facebook.
