Katie Couric to feature trans advocates Carmen Carrera & Laverne Cox today

This afternoon at 3PM EST, tune into Katie Couric’s “Katie” as she meets with two of the transgender community's advocates, who are also celebrities with brightly shining stars: Carmen Carrera and Laverne Cox.

Carmen, a model and television personality, recently made headlines when a petition began circulating to have Carmen named Victoria’s Secret’s first trans Angel. The petition garnered more than 45,000 signatures.

Actress, writer, producer, and long-time advocate Laverne Cox has made a big splash playing Sophia Burset on the breakout hit, “Orange is the New Black.” Laverne’s latest endeavor continues to combine advocacy with her talent, as she is co-producing “FREE CECE,” a documentary detailing CeCe McDonald’s experiences. GLAAD and Laverne have worked together on a variety of past projects, including on the panel, Growing Visibility: Transgender People in the Media.

Tune in this afternoon at 3PM EST!
