Hip hop icon Russell Simmons to present at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York (Video) #glaadawards

Hip hop icon Russell Simmons will present the GLAAD Media Award for “Outstanding Film – Limited Release” next week at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York, it was announced today.

Last year, Simmons received the Excellence in Media Award in recognition of his philanthropic efforts and strong support of LGBT equality. The Excellence in Media Award is presented to media professionals who, through their work, have increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community.

Broadway legend Bernadette Peters, ‘Smash’ star Megan Hilty, ‘Jersey Shore’s Vinny Guadagnino, John Stamos, Laverne Cox, Carson Kressley, Janet Mock, Kim Wayans, MSNBC's Thomas Roberts and talk show host Wendy Williams are among the stars coming out to support equality in New York, while Ellen DeGeneres, Betty White, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, ‘Hunger Games’ star Josh Hutcherson, and ‘True Blood’s Anna Paquin will attend the Los Angeles ceremonies.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives.
