Good Morning America's Robin Roberts acknowledges longtime girlfriend

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts today posted a Facebook message, in which she publicly acknowledged her longtime girlfriend for the first time.

"I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," wrote Roberts in a yearend message to fans. See the whole post below.

In 2012, Roberts sat down for an historic interview with President Barack Obama, in which he voiced his support for marriage equality for the very first time.

Roberts, too, has previously expressed her support for the LGBT community, tweeting in support of 'Spirit Day' in 2012.

"Robin's courage continues to be unwavering, and today she has inspired countless young LGBT people and, in particular, LGBT people of color -- especially LGBT women of color -- who can now see a reflection of themselves on America's most-watched morning show," said GLAAD's Wilson Cruz. “As one of the nation’s most-trusted journalists, as well as a top athlete, Robin is also helping millions of viewers to better understand the rich diversity of the LGBT community."
