The GLAAD Wrap: Zachary Quinto's New LBF and a Divine New Film

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) It may not have any LGBT content (that we know of) but the new Wall Street thriller Margin Call does have the distinction of starring the newly out Zachary Quinto. The film is set in the earliest days of the 2008 financial crisis and features Quinto as an analyst who stumbles across information that could bring down his entire firm. 2) And speaking of Zachary Quinto, when the actor makes his debut on the FX series American Horror Story as the former owner of a haunted house, his openly gay character will apparently also have a lesbian friend that will appear in at least one episode. Actress Kathleen Rose Perkins will play the friend, and she should be a familiar face to any fans of the Showtime series Episodes, where she gave a consistently hilarious performance as a television executive poorly concealing an affair with her boss.

3) On Tuesday, Darren Hayes will be releasing a solo album titled Secret Codes and Battleships. The Savage Garden frontman recently sat down with Australia’s Star Observer to discuss the album and his coming out. To get a preview of the album, take a look at the video below:nkAWkNzq-iM

4) Anyone who’s a fan of the movies of John Waters is probably a fan of drag performer Divine, who served as Waters’ muse for some of his most famous films, including the notorious Pink Flamingos and the crossover hit Hairspray. The upcoming documentary I Am Divine aims to be the definitive biographical portrait of Harris Glenn Milstead, a Baltimore native who first rose to fame as a star of the underground film scene and went on to become an internationally symbol of “outsiderdom.” Director Jeffrey Schwartz – who also directed the upcoming documentary about GLAAD co-founder and LGBT champion Vito Russo – is in the final days of raising the funds needed to finish the film.
