More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
GLAAD Congratulates ABC's Sam Champion on his engagement
In a New York Times story about MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts' wedding with husband Patrick Abner, ABC News weather editor and Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion announced his own engagement to photographer Rubem Robierb. The pair say they plan to marry in New York and have a celebration in Miami on New Year's Eve.
Champion told ABC News "We are thrilled and so excited and thank everyone for their good wishes.” Towleroad reports he tweeted this afternoon: "I've never been happier to share a bit of personal news!!"
"Sam has been a good friend and longtime supporter of GLAAD, and we wish him and Rubem the absolute best" said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick.
