GaymerCon Launches New Spirit Character, Announces #SpiritDay Contest Winner

To celebrate Spirit Day, GaymerCon launched a new purple character named ‘Spirit.’  He will join the convention’s other two brightly colored mascots as GaymerCon gets ready to host its first gathering of LGBT gamers and allies in San Francisco on August 3 & 4, 2013.

Last month GaymerCon partnered with GLAAD to launch a Spirit Day contest encouraging people to wear purple and submit a video talking about their experiences with bullying.  Check out the grand prize winner below and head to GaymerCon’s blog to see other winning entries.

GaymerCon also hosted a Spirit Day concert featuring indie rock band Saucy Monky at Fubar in West Hollywood, where everyone in attendance was encouraged to wear purple.

Did you take part in Spirit Day? Upload your photos wearing purple to TwitterInstagram, and Tumblr using the hashtag #SpiritDay.
