"Faking It" adds recurring lesbian character, Laverne Cox to guest star

According to The Hollywood Reporter, season 2 of MTV's Faking It will see the addition of a new recurring lesbian character named Reagan to the show's cast. What's more, actress, producer and trans advocate Laverne Cox will also join Hester High in a guest starring role.

Reagan will be played by Yvette Monreal, who The Hollywood Reporter describes as a "hip, edgy lesbian with a rebellious streak. She's a cater-waiter by day and DJ by night who is fiercely out and proud and independent with a husky voice and sexy confidence who supports herself and her music career with odd jobs." Cox will play Margot, the very demanding drama club director and an alumna of the school.

Faking It follows high school best friends Amy and Karma, who are mistaken for a lesbian couple but decide to keep up the charade when they see the positive attention it brings to them.  Unfortunately, Amy soon realizes she has very real feelings for her apparently straight best friend, Karma.

Season 2 of Faking It will premiere on MTV on September 23 at 10:30/9:30c.
