Days of our Lives Goes Purple for #SpiritDay

The cast and crew of the GLAAD Media Award-winning NBC daily drama Days of our Lives went purple on set today and took these pictures to show their support to LGBT youth and speak out against bullying.

Days of our Lives introduced several gay characters in the past two years and has tackled several storylines that reflect the lives of LGBT youth.  Will Horton for several months struggled to come to terms with his orientation and faced the difficulties of coming out to his family.  He is now in a loving relationship with Sonny Kiriakis who was the soap’s first openly gay character.  Days of our Lives has taken great steps to include gay teens in the Salem universe in which it has revolved for the past 47 years and seeing the cast in purple for Spirit Day only reinforces a commitment to telling the stories of the LGBT community in a fair and accurate manner.

Check out Days of Our Lives cast members who have tweeted about Spirit Day, including Kristian Alfonso, Nadia Bjorlin and Freddie Smith.

And check out the other celebrities who are participating including Glee's Dianna Agron, Joel McHale, Wendy Williams and Shaquille O'Neal! They will all be in purple along with landmarks including Times Square and the New York Stock Exchange!
