Associated Press to Honor Out Gay Reporter Hank Plante

On June 2nd, retired political reporter Hank Plante will accept the 2012 Stan Chambers Award for Extraordinary Achievement from the Associated Press Television and Radio Association. Plante was one of the first openly gay TV reporters in the country.

GLAAD Mourns Transgender Advocate and HIV/AIDS Activist Alexis Rivera

Last week, transgender advocate Alexis Rivera passed away from complications related to HIV. Rivera was 34 years old and worked as Policy Advocate at the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco since 2007. GLAAD offers deepest condolences to her friends, family, and all who loved her.
