Congrats! Melissa Etheridge and Linda Wallem marry

Just a few days after celebrating their 53rd birthdays together, Melissa Etheridge and partner Linda Wallem married at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.

The wedding was an intimate, outdoor celebration with friends and family of Etheridge and Wallem including Jane Lynch, Rosie O'Donnell, Whitney Cummings, Peter Facinelli and all four of Etheridge's children. Etheridge performed a new song that she wrote for Wallem that she had never publicly performed before. "They were so happy… It was really beautiful," one of the guests told People Magazine.

Etheridge and Wallem (who created the Showtime series Nurse Jackie) had been friends for more than ten years before they started dating in 2010. The couple announced their engagement last June following the Supreme Court's ruling that DOMA and Prop 8 were unconstitutional. Following the court's decision, Etheridge tweeted:

“Let’s hear it for the general progress of the human mind. With a beautiful sweep of sweet justice's blind hand we move forward. We correct the laws made hastily out of fear. I look forward to exercising my American civil liberties... and getting fully, completely and legally married…"

Etheridge has a new solo album scheduled for release on September 30. GLAAD congratulates Melissa Etheridge and Linda Wallem on their big day!
