AFI Fest to Screen New Lesbian Romance "With Every Heartbeat"

The American Film Institute’s upcoming AFI Fest 2011 will showcase some of the most highly anticipated films of the fall, as well as a few that many audience members may not have heard of yet.  Among those will be the new Swedish romance WITH EVERY HEARTBEAT, which Los Angeles area fans of Imagine Me and You or The L Word will definitely want to check out while they have the chance.

This gorgeously shot film follows the recently engaged Mia, as she and her fiancé visit her father for his own engagement party.  Initially jealous of her new, future sister-in-law Frida, the two discover a growing attraction for one another over a weekend in the countryside.  As their emotional connection grows, so do the complications, and the women are soon forced to come to terms with its effects on their existing relationships, their self-identities, and their life-choices.  AFI Fest will screen the film from first-time writer/director Alexandra-Therese Keining as part of their Breakthrough section on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 2:00 p.m.; both screenings will be at the Mann Chinese Theater.

The festival will also screen the highly anticipated J. Edgar as one of their gala presentations, and Law of Desire in honor of the festival's guest artistic director (and the film's director) Pedro Almodovar.
