Adam Lambert Reportedly to Front Queen, Releases New Video

According to UK paper The Daily StarAdam Lambert will reportedly be stepping into Freddy Mercury's shoes to tour with Queen this summer, including playing the Soniphere Festival in Knebworth, England from July 6 to 8 where Freddie Mercury last performed publicly with the band in 1986.  The out American Idol runner up also released the video for 'Better Than I Know Myself,' the first single of his new album coming out in March.

Lambert first performed with his new band mates, Brian May and Roger Taylor, during his rendition of 'We Are The Champions' in the 2009 American Idol finals and went on to wow fans when he performed with them again at MTV’s Europe Music Awards in Belfast last November.  “The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*****g great songs. It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have been proud of,” said Lambert.

Freddie Mercury, the band's original front man, was known for his theatrical singing style.  He was openly bisexual and passed away from AIDS related complications in 1991.  Given Lambert's own signature musical flare and outspoken openness about his own sexual orientation would seemingly make Lambert the perfect candidate to follow in Mercury's footsteps as the front of one of rock music's most iconic bands.

In addition, Adam Lambert just released the video for the first single of his new album, Trespassing to be released in March.  Watch the video for 'Better Than I Know Myself' below.
