Friday afternoon, GLAAD staff had the extraordinary opportunity to meet, speak with, and answer questions from a group of seventeen foreign journalists who cover LGBT issues in their home countries. Reporters from Uganda, Moldova, Nigeria, Singapore, Chile, India, Guyana, and ten other nations joined us in our New York offices.
Jennifer Tyrrell was kicked out of her son’s Boy Scout troop under the BSA's blanket ban on gay people being affiliated with the organization, either as scouts or leaders. Yesterday, the BSA announced that it would be "considering" a resolution at next year's annual business meeting that would reverse this ban.
Sheena Monnin, the reigning Miss Pennsylvania USA (who did not make it into the final sixteen of the Miss USA pageant this weekend) has resigned from her post, organizers say, because she disagreed with the pageant's inclusion of transgender women.
In response to criticism from the LGBT community and allies over its coverage of a fire that killed a transgender woman this weekend, the New York Times released a statement that reveals a lack of understanding of how serious this problem is.
