20th Annual SAG Awards nominees announced: Dallas Buyers Club, Modern Family, Behind the Candelabra honored

Nominees were announced this morning for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in five film and eight television categories, and several out actors and LGBT-inclusive films and series received nominations. The SAG Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Saturday, January 18 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Dallas Buyers Club picked up three nomination for the film and the cast, with a nod in Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture (including out actor Denis O'Hare) and Jared Leto picking up his first SAG individual nomination for his portrayal of transgender woman Rayon in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. 

Behind the Candelabra leads Michael Douglas (Liberace) and Matt Damon (Scott Thorson) each netted nods in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries. Modern Family picked up an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy series nomination, plus two other nominations for individual cast members. LGBT-inclusive series Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones scored nominations in Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Out actor Jim Parsons scored two nods this year, one for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and the other for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, for his role as Sheldon Cooper on CBS' The Big Bang Theory. Out actress Sarah Paulson was nominated as part of the 12 Years a Slave ensemble in Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Portia de Rossi was also nominated as part of a larger cast in Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Arrested Development. Our director Lee Daniels film Lee Daniels' The Butler picked up 3 nominations including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and the LGBT-inclusive film Philomena  took home a nomination in Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Judi Dench.
