This is the first effort by the Washington DC travel bureau to attract gay travelers, and it uses standard language play referring to coming out in its headline: "Where more than just cherry blossoms come out." Picturing a female couple, the ad text reads, "Diversity is in bloom year round in Washington."

In a unique addition, a modified American flag has "DC" in the blue and white stars section, while one of the red-and-white stripes is a rainbow stripe.
