Brian Andersen and Anton Tanumihardja are very much in love and want to spend their lives together, but Anton is now facing likely deportation to his native Indonesia where people like Anton – who is openly gay, Christian and ethnically Chinese – are subjected to persecution simply for being who they are.
November 14 – 20 individuals and organizations around the country will participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people, and address the issues the community faces.

This week America and the LGBT community applauded the end of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' with its full repeal going into effect on September 20, 2011. Celebrations were held across the country marking the end to this discriminatory, anti-LGBT law. The media covered this significant milestone with touching, personal stories – such as an active duty member of the military getting married at midnight in Vermont and a soldier who called his father from overseas to come out to him. These stories highlighted the voices of the men and women impacted by this discrimination.
