Tell Amazon to Stop Selling Anti-Gay Calendar
Update: Amazon.com Removes Anti-Gay Calendar After Community Speaks Out
UPDATE: The Calendar is no longer available on Barnes & Noble's website, and a spokesperson for the company told us it has never been available in stores.
Amazon.com is selling a calendar by self-proclaimed "Christian Cartoonist" Joe King called, "I'm Not Gay, I'm Just A Sissy; 12 Months of Sexual Confusion."
King's cartoons employ outdated and highly-offensive stereotypes about LGBT people, and more specifically, gay men and transgender women. The LGBT community has expressed its outrage, and King has responded on his Facebook page – with the use of even more dehumanizing and insulting comments against the transgender community, the gay community, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
This product contributes to the stereotypes used to stifle progress toward equality.
