Brian Pacheco oversees the GLAAD Media Awards communications and nomination/award recipient selection process. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize a diverse range of honorees and nominees who represent the best in LGBTQ images, stories and advocacy in the media.
Brian first came to GLAAD in 2010, joining as a fellow and becoming the Spanish-Language Media Strategist in 2011. In that role, Brian worked to increase fair, accurate and inclusive LGBTQ portrayals in Spanish and English-language Latino media. He also trained hundreds of spokespeople to tell their stories effectively in local, national and international media outlets.
A Los Angeles native born to immigrant parents from El Salvador, Brian is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He was a subject in documentary “Gay Latino L.A.: Coming of Age,” which followed the lives of three young gay Latino men as they dealt with issues of identity, family, acceptance, employment, and love.
